What is the secret to Grandma's Fruit & Nut cake recipe?
The ingredients! In the original recipe it was noted – ‘Use only the freshest ingredients!’ – a combination of ripe fancy cherries, fresh succulent pineapples, plump raisins, crunchy almonds, walnuts, seedling pecans and just the right amount of bourbon, rum and brandy! Our bakers also know that it is the slow bake which includes a secret process, plus allowing the cakes to mellow to perfection, that makes their Grandma’s recipe so special. Yes, our fruitcake is made to be eaten!
Where did the original Grandma's Fruitcake recipe come from?
In 1917, two brothers with a bakery in St. Louis, MO, went searching for a way to keep their bakers busy during summer months. They needed something special – prepared in summer, and sold during the winter. Finally their search ended. They came across their grandma’s exceptional fruitcake recipe from Germany. Today, that delicacy is known as Grandma’s Fruit and Nut Cake. And what was once just a small bakery is today Beatrice Bakery Co.®, creators of the perfect recipe for living the sweet life and ordering cakes online
How should I serve and store my cake?
To ensure you experience the best dessert cake we have to offer, we recommend refrigerating your dessert cake for 24-48 hours before slicing and serving. Because our cakes are perishable, once they have been opened, rewrap in cellophane for lasting freshness.
